In November of last year e-gold quietly closed all Iranian accounts. They did not ‘value limit’ them or give advance notice, all of the accounts simply were removed. Some people protested and of course the previous local Iranian users were steaming mad. We can now look back with our powerful 20/20 vision and ask…Did they do the right thing?

I’m sure it is not the first time this kind of privacy compromise has occurred, this is the first time I can remember openly reading the event details. Hushmail turned over 12 CDs containing email messages between Chinese illegal steroid manufacturers. The feds asked for them and because of long standing MLATs with Canada Hushmail gave them up.
