Paypal Merchants with More Protection - Expanded Seller Protection

by Benson on January 30th, 2008

Paypal

Sarah Livnat, Paypal has updated on the upcoming Expanded Seller Protection, and what to expect from them. On summary in a nutshell,

  • No more confirmed address. Merchants can ship to whichever address the buyer provides them through PayPal whether it is confirmed or not.
  • No more coverage limit. The coverage payout limit under the Seller Protection Policy is $5,000 per year. Expanded seller protection has no limit.
  • Coverage in more places around the world. Coverage is now extended to the 190 markets supported by PayPal, so merchants can ship to customers wherever they are.
  • No additional integration required. Merchants won’t need to go through any additional integration steps or change their checkout experience to take advantage of the additional protection.

The changes will take place first with eBay power sellers in US, UK, Canada and Hong Kong (wonder why Singapore isn’t in). It’s actually a part of the huge installment that’s coming in for eBay/ Paypal for this January to nudge a level higher for Power Sellers with their own rating system. (more changes here)

The team definitely have been working on the legislation part to boost the quality of sellers in eBay. The perks look pretty.
