PayPal Expands In Africa

by Mark on May 12th, 2007

My blogger friend Oluniyi David Ajao, is now reporting that PayPal has expanded their operations to include more countries in Africa.

PayPal is now accessible in these countries.

Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon Republic, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia.

David further says,

“Good as it sounds, it is important to note that users in all the African countries covered by PayPal, can only send, but cannot receive money. They cannot receive payments online even if they are online merchants. This is far better than not being included at all as users in the countries can at least pay for online services or send money to other PayPal users via the Internet.”

A few years ago, there was no single country on the African continent where one could send/receive money online via Paypal. Not one. Then there was South Africa. A few countries were added, as most were later covered. Even now, all the African countrie…
