Best Gold Cards Get Canceled, Again
Current BestGoldCard holders were dealt a ugly hand last week. All cards were again canceled due to another bank hiccup.
Here is the statement from BGC and below is also the actual reason for the bank’s cancellation. Many non DGC private issue cards were also included in this round of cuts. The situation has created big problems for a lot of customers. Those crazy banks!
BestGoldCard is possibly the largest and most popular of any DGC debit card. However, through no fault of their own, they have now had two cards now in the past six months. The options available to current card holders for this canceled card were amazing such as shopping in stores and online, even hotel reservations via phone. It was a great card from an industry leader. A replacement card is reported to be on the way but no date has been discussed.
“Due to regulatory issues beyond the control of the bank, the issuing bank of your current (”new”) card is forced to and has in fact terminated your card. Yourself, BestGoldCard and the bank are not in any way at fault. Note that any programs similar to BGC’s WILL ALSO BE TERMINATED.”
The reason this happened:
“It’s just this simple: one particular bank in the complex chain was very happy to be making all the money from this particular flavor of prepaid program. The bank was taken over last Friday by another large bank and, surprise, changed their thoughts on some matters. “

Further info from BGC
–For those cardholders with a balance… You will receive a refund by cheque direct from the bank within a few days. You will not have to do ANYTHING, fill in any forms etc., to do this.
–In a few weeks BGC is offering an amazing new membership that will offer you totally unprecedented benefits in the DGC world, along with an incredible prepaid card unlike anything seen in the industry before in terms of costs and advantages.
–BGC will of course replace your current card, which has been terminated today, with the new card completely free of charge, including shipping and handling.
We share the frustration that you will be without a card for 4-8 weeks, but the regulatory environment is absolutely beyond the control of the banks and the DGC industry.

Sorry mate, that web and business are no more. They are out. 1MDC which was the loading platform was effectively shut down by the US gov, when they seized the e-gold accounts that were backing 1MDC. BGC will not return.
Thanks, Mark
