A Dialogue with Mark Herpel, DGC Magazine
Mark Herpel, our former author of DigitalMoneyWorld, founder of DGC Magazine chats with me on his current life and his new project on Skype.
B: Hi Mark, How’s life been after DMW?
M: slower and a bit boring, I miss b5media.
B: Aww, you should really come back and join us. Anyway I’ve seen your new DGC Magazine, it looks really awesome; And the content is undoubtly interesting and informative, what prompted you to start it?
M: Well, with health issues, I don’t have 8-10 hours a day anymore to stay ‘online’, I really only get in about 4 good hours of work, so blogging, writing and anything else had to get trimmed way back and I believe that its now time to bring the use of digital gold more into the mainstream of daily Internet life.
B: Ah, yes. Talking about your health issues, how’s the situation now? Has things improve?
M: no they don’t get better just worse at a slower pace, but I’m getting along fine, I just ordered a home stem cell kit from a Mexican Pharmacy….waiting for that to arrive :)
B: Hope you’ll get better. And the dogs?
M: Oh, they are fine, chewing up the place……..with the US economy hitting the skids, the price of gold has risen very sharply in just the past two year and GOLD has become a real Buzz Word. So with gold in the spot light, its easier to expand on the client base of digital gold currencies. 5 years ago if you said digital gold, people sort of looked at you funny but today, they all want to know how it works, because they see it on the nightly news I believe this is just the tip of the iceberg for gold.
Also business on the Internet, is now realizing that online payments, does not always mean a Credit card.
B: With consumers spoilt for choices, what should we be looking at when we select a digital gold currency (DGC)?
Good question. I believe that any business, especially a financial one, is only as strong as the person’s who operate it. People who are in business to ‘create’ things, and not just make money seem to be much stronger operators. If you were trying to select a DGC today, you have to ask yourself, what will I use it for?
There are some really strong operations now and products available to the public, including GoldMoney, Bullionvault, Pecunix and Webmoney.
If you are looking to move your dollars into gold for safekeeping there are two fine operations, GoldMoney and Bullionvault, will both allow you to make convenient purchases of digital gold using existing payment methods like right out of your checking account.
I also like Crowne Gold because they will deliver the gold as little as an ounce to you, if you request it and they are proven to be a strong and private organization.
If you are looking for a digital gold currency to use online for your day to day personal or business transactions, you must try Webmoney Gold, the new gold purse WMG is terrific and of course we use Pecunix each day for all sorts of applications, that is my go-to DGC for paying bills and such.
B: So we shouldn’t worry about legislation matters like what e-Gold is experiencing right now?
M: Everyone, should be worried when little people working for Big Government get enough power to wage a personal criminal action against a company. This is never good and everyone should get involved with supporting e-gold, but no, I don’t feel that there will be any current government legislation to prevent the use of digital gold.
Not yet at least.
B: Here’s a pickle. I can’t remember exactly any form of digital gold or digital currency even to be having problems with their own legislation apart from United States. In your years of support for digital currency, are there any which violates their own country’s Anti Money Laundering (AML) Policies that you know of?
M: India, is very strict on they digital money, I”m sure for good reasons. Everything online there seems too run through a bank, but other than India, no the digital currency is too new yet to make it into the books. We just saw Neteller crucified for their digital money operation, but all of their funds flowed through banks. Its not the same with digital currency, its a non banking operation.
B: Tell us more about your new DGC Magazine (ps. I like to flip the pages)
M: Yes, great software, each month we feature interviews, article and pictures ‘exposing’ the world to digital gold currency and related businesses.
I say exposing because I don’t think there has ever been a publication, blog or book discussing digital gold currency before, so this is the first time a wide public audience gets a chance to evaluate the products. Eventually, it would be great have a printed copy sitting on the coffee table extolling the benefits of digital gold. There are a lot of very exciting features of digital gold, people only need to find out about them and the magazine is a casual, hi-resolution option.
B: Niche magazine indeed, I can tell you’re pretty much enjoying yourself when you’re doing articles and compiling your magazine. What’s the exact URL to it? I’ve seen two, and was wondering which is the official one.
M: Fun stuff. http://www.dgcmagazine.com will get you to the magazine, and there is a blog on that web also, just click the link on top.
B: This is a great photo of James Turk in the second issue., and that’s alot of money in the vaults, speaking of which.. Is there any chance these vaults will be robbed? Like those clever thieves from Ocean 11.
M: Hehe, funny question but I thought of that also, I don’t think so…but just in case, Mr. Turk has a huge insurance policy with Lloyd’s the last time I checked it was for about 50million more than he had gold in the vaults…that’s some big insurance :)
I’m sure all of the popular DGC carry this type of insurance protection. However, if I ever visit the vaults, I going to wear my oversized jacket with the deep pockets
B: *COUGHS* What would we be expecting from the next issue of DGCMagazine?
M: Ah, this is very exciting, in March I’m having not only the regular monthly issue but also a special issue on Complementary Currencies, so there will be two issues online in about a month. Our regular publication is the Privacy issue and will have a fantastic interview with Steve Topletz who operates www.Xerobank.com and that is an amazing product for DGC users.
Total online privacy is a very good partner to digital currency and they have a long history together, Steve just has taken Internet privacy to a new level with his software, he makes extreme privacy affordable and easy to use.
B: Very nice. Last question, how old are you exactly?
M: Hehe, well my Dr. says I’m in great shape for an 82 year old grandmother. Let’s just say I’m well passed puberty and when I was a kid cokes cost a nickel.
B: WOOT! Thank you for your time Mark. You mind us checking you out from time to time?
M: Thank you and ring me anytime, Skype is digitalcurrency. I really do miss b5, that’s a fun operation
